Archaeology (Advisor: Terry Hunt)
Damion is interested in Archaeology within the Pacific Island region. He is exploring the regional variation of aquacultural techniques that exist in the Pacific Islands with an emphasis on the survey of stone-walled fish ponds and fish-weirs built by indigenous groups within the coastal strand. Prior to academia, Damion was a tall-ship captain whose responsibilities ranged from carrying cargo in the South Pacific to conducting “eco-tours” and educational programs around the world. With a strong sailing background, his academic pursuits are naturally related to traditional nautical activities and cultural maritime adaptations.
