Senior Anthropology major Gabriel Sanchez recently received an undergraduate research award at the 40th national conference of the Society for Advancement of Chicanos and Native Americans in Science (SACNAS).

His poster was entitled, “Cetacean Hunting at the Par-Tee Site (35CLT20): Ethnographic, Artifact, and Blood Residue Analysis.” Gabriel was advised on the project by Jon Erlandson and Erik Thorsgard (cultural protection manager and tribal historic preservation officer for the Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde).
